Leonardo DiCaprio Fights ‘World War 3’ in New One Battle After Another Video

One Battle After Another is the forthcoming crime drama movie written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Releasing in theaters this September, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a character named Bob Ferguson.

What happens in the new One Battle After Another teaser trailer?

The new One Battle After Another teaser trailer evokes Star Wars, as Benicio del Toro’s character yells, “May the force be with you!” at one point, presumably not long after Bob has jumped out of his car. Elsewhere, someone mentions that it’s “World War 3 out there,” while there’s also a good amount of emphasis put on an infant character who will seemingly be important to the plot.

The cast of One Battle After Another also includes Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor, Chase Infiniti, Wood Harris, and Alana Haim.

Anderson produces the movie alongside Adam Somner and Sara Murphy. Will Weiske serves as an executive producer.

The film is said to be loosely inspired by the 1990 novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon. A description of the book reads, “Here, in an Orwellian 1984, Zoyd Wheeler and his daughter Prairie search for Prairie’s long-lost mother, a Sixties radical who ran off with a narc. Vineland is vintage Pynchon, full of quasi-allegorical characters, elaborate unresolved subplots, corny songs (‘Floozy with an Uzi’), movie spoofs (Pee-wee Herman in The Robert Musil Story), and illicit sex (including a macho variation on the infamous sports car scene in V.).”

Prior to One Battle After Another, Anderson’s most recent movie was 2021’s Licorice Pizza. He also directed 1996’s Hard Eight, 1997’s Boogie Nights, 1999’s Magnolia, 2002’s Punch-Drunk Love, 2007’s There Will Be Blood, 2012’s The Master, 2014’s Inherent Vice, and 2017’s Phantom Thread.

One Battle After Another will be released in United States theaters and IMAX on September 26, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
