Street Fighter Movie Casts Controversial Comedian as Weakest Character
The live-action Street Fighter movie has cast the Dan Hibiki role.
Legendary Entertainment is currently working on a Street Fighter movie, based on Capcom’s popular video game series. The movie will be directed by Kitao Sakurai, who previously made 2021’s Bad Trip.
Who has been cast as Dan Hibiki in Street Fighter?
According to Deadline, Dan Hibiki will be played by Andrew Schulz in the Street Fighter movie.
“First appearing in Street Fighter Alpha in 1995, Hibiki is consistently portrayed as an overconfident, arrogant, and utterly feeble character,” the article notes. “The role seems perfect for Schulz, given his comedic background that has made him one of today’s biggest stand-up acts. While this role will lean heavy on the comedy, don’t be surprised if Schulz gets a chance to throw down like his fellow co-stars.”
Schulz is a comedian and podcaster who has often received backlash for his controversial jokes. He has previously starred in movies such as 2019’s Feast of the Seven Fishers, 2023’s You People, 2023’s White Men Can’t Jump, 2024’s The Underdoggs, 2024’s The Thicket, and more.
Additionally, Schulz stars in Shane Gillis’ Netflix comedy series, Tires, which premiered its second season earlier this month. He also dropped a new Netflix comedy special on the streaming service, Andrew Schulz: Life, earlier this month.
The cast of the Street Fighter movie also includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Orville Peck as Vega, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as Balrog.
Production on the film is expected to begin in Australia this coming August. Plot details remain under wraps at this time. Legendary Entertainment is co-developing and co-producing the project alongside Capcom.
A release date for the Street Fighter movie has not yet been set.
