Ratatouille 2 Seems Likely Following Pixar’s New Release Strategy

Ratatouille 2 could be happening.

The original Ratatouille movie was released in 2007 by Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. Written and directed by Brad Bird, the animated movie follows a rat, Remy (voiced by Patton Oswalt), who tries to achieve his dream of becoming a chef.

What do we know about a potential Ratatouille 2?

Speaking on a recent episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider of The InSneider said that Ratatouille 2 is likely going to happen at some point.

“I heard it, like, a while back. It was denied. I was like, ‘I don’t know.’ I don’t know if I’m buying that denial,” he said. “I’m pretty sure that there will be a sequel. Look at what we’re talking about, here — you can’t do a proper sequel to Up, necessarily. Maybe you could for WALL-E. But Ratatouille screams sequel.”

Pointing out that Pixar’s Elio recently underperformed at the box office when it was released this past weekend, Sneider added. “They’re already doing Toy Story 5. So it’s like, where are we going from here? Another Cars movie? Like, no. Ratatouille 2 is on the menu, trust me.”

While Ratatouille 2 hasn’t been officially confirmed as of yet, this lines up with what Pixar CCO and filmmaker Pete Docter recently said about the company’s plans for the future. Docter explained that Pixar plans to release one original film followed by a sequel moving forward.

There are, of course, already a number of sequels in the works at Pixar — Toy Story 5 will be released on June 19, 2026, while Coco 2 and The Incredibles 3 are both in the works. As for original movies, Hoppers is currently slated for March 6, 2026, and Gatto for June 18, 2027.

The original Ratatouille is currently available to stream on Disney+.
