Who is involved in The Mummy with Lee Cronin?
In June 2024, New Line Cinema dated Cronin’s next film for the spring of 2026. In December, Cronin revealed that his next movie would be The Mummy.
Jack Reynor headlines The Mummy and will star as a “husband and father who runs afoul of supernaturally sinister forces.” Joining Reynor in the cast are Laia Costa, Verónica Falcón, May Calamawy, May Elghety, and Natalie Grace.
Cronin is the writer and director of The Mummy. It’s the Irish filmmaker’s first movie since Evil Dead Rise. Released in 2023, Evil Dead Rise was a standalone entry in the Evil Dead franchise. Cronin’s film became a monster hit, grossing $147 million worldwide on a budget of less than $20 million. While Cronin won’t direct the next Evil Dead movie, Evil Dead Burn, he is attached as an executive producer.
The Mummy’s producers include Cronin, Jason Blum, John Keville, and James Wan. For many decades, The Mummy was a Universal Pictures property. The first four Mummy movies were a part of the Universal Classic Monsters series.
In the late ’90s, Brendan Fraser headlined The Mummy, an action-adventure series that spawned two sequels. In 2017, Tom Cruise starred in the reboot of The Mummy. However, Cruise’s movie failed, leading to the end of the Dark Universe.
Cronin’s Mummy will be more of a horror movie than an action-adventure. It’s also the first Mummy movie to be distributed by New Line Cinema in association with Blumhouse Productions and Atomic Monster.
The Mummy heads to theaters on April 17, 2026.
