DC Studios CEO and director James Gunn has explained why Superman spoilers will not affect the audience’s movie experience. This comes ahead of the highly anticipated superhero movie’s US theatrical release on July 11, 2025.

“In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind,” reads the synopsis.

On his personal Threads account, Gunn answered a fan’s concerns about Superman spoilers after he announced that the upcoming movie will have early-access screenings for Amazon Prime Members on July 8. The filmmaker believes that spoilers will not affect the movie experience of fans, since he guarantees that the new Superman movie won’t just be about the surprises.

“A) Hearing a spoiler won’t kill the movie,” Gunn wrote. “The enjoyment of the film isn’t based solely on its surprises. B) But if it does concern you please be careful of where you go online during those few days!”

Superman is written and directed by Gunn, based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The ensemble cast includes David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
