Avatar’s Zoe Saldaña on if She Has Spoken to James Gunn About a DC Role
Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldaña has addressed the rumors linking her to a role in James Gunn‘s revamped DC Universe. With Saldaña having worked closely with the iconic filmmaker during her prolonged stint in the MCU, fans have long wondered if the two may collaborate on a DC project as well. The Avatar star has now shed light on the possibility of this proposition becoming a reality.
Zoe Saldaña talks joining James Gunn’s DC universe
While speaking with ScreenRant‘s Ash Crossan during a promotional event for her upcoming feature, Elio, Zoe Saldaña opened up about the prospect of her joining the DC Universe. In a disappointing update, the actress revealed that she has had no conversations with James Gunn regarding the matter.
During the interview, Crossan mentioned how Gunn has publicly reaffirmed his intention to add Saldana to the DC roster and has also thought of a role for her. The interviewer then asked the 46-year-old actress if she and Gunn had had any discussions about this, and Saldaña responded with a simple, “No.”
Nevertheless, Saldaña did express excitement for the Superman film, which is the first theatrical outing in Gunn’s updated DCU, noting, “I can’t wait for Superman. I think we’re all sort of anticipating. He’s so talented, and I’m pretty sure that he’s going to bring a lot of heart, but also a lot of humor and levity to this beautiful legacy of a story.”
So far, only one actor from the Guardians trilogy has made the switch to DC following Gunn’s takeover of the setup. Sean Gunn, who played Kraglin in the Guradians movies, has already voiced Weasel in 2021’s The Suicide Squad for the now-defunct DCEU and will now portray Maxwell Lord and G.I. Robot in the updated version of the superhero franchise.
