Star Wars: Mia Goth Nabs Starfighter Role Mikey Madison Turned Down
Mia Goth has joined the cast of Star Wars: Starfighter.
Star Wars: Starfighter arrives in theaters in 2027. The film is being directed by Deadpool & Wolverine’s Shawn Levy and will star Ryan Gosling.
Per Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Goth will join Gosling in Star Wars: Starfighter, which is expected to begin production this coming fall. Sneider reports that Goth’s role is being kept under wraps, while The Hollywood Reporter says she’s been cast as a villain in the film.
“It does involve Gosling playing a character that must protect his young nephew against evil pursuers,” The Hollywood Reporter’s article notes. “Goth will play one of the pursuers.”
Anora’s Mikey Madison was previously in talks to play Goth’s role in the film; however, she ultimately passed on the role over a pay dispute.
Goth recently starred in Ti West’s trilogy of A24 movies: 2022’s X, 2022’s Pearl, and 2024’s MaXXXine. Her filmography also includes 2017’s A Curse for Wellness, 2018’s Suspiria, 2019’s High Life, 2020’s Emma, and 2023’s Infinity Pool. She’ll soon be seen in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, which arrives this November, and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which comes in 2026.
What else do we know about Star Wars: Starfighter?
Star Wars: Starfighter will take place approximately five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Levy said about the project in April, “This is a stand-alone. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet.”
Further plot details remain under wraps at this time. The script comes from Jonathan Tropper.
Star Wars: Starfighter will be released in United States theaters on May 28, 2027, from Lucasfilm. The only other Star Wars movie with a theatrical release date at this time is The Mandalorian and Grogu, which arrives about a year earlier, on May 22, 2026.
