The official synopsis for the sequel movie reads, “Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) has a talent for solving complex problems. When an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to ‘find the accountant,’ Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal), to help. In partnership with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.”
The cast further includes Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons. Bill Dubuque wrote the script for the film, while Affleck, Lynette Howell Taylor, and Mark Williams serve as producers.
The Accountant 2 made a little over $100 million at the global box office. It received mostly positive reviews from critics, as it currently has a 76 percent fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
O’Connor, who also directed the first film in the franchise, has previously said that he wants to make a whole trilogy of The Accountant movies. While The Accountant 3 has not yet been officially confirmed, the director has also said there won’t be a nine-year wait this time around, as there was between The Accountant and The Accountant 2.
