Superman Budget Revealed for James Gunn’s DCU Movie
The budget and box office profit point for James Gunn’s Superman have been revealed.
Superman officially hits United States theaters next month. Written and directed by Gunn, the DCU movie sees David Corenswet play the titular superhero, while the cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
What is the budget and box office profit point for Superman?
According to TheWrap’s Umberto Gonzalez, Superman has a budget of approximately $225 million.
“According to one insider, if Superman grosses anything north of $500 million worldwide, the film will turn a profit at the box office (not inclusive of ancillary revenues),” the article reads. “In the court of public opinion, however, it will need to gross closer to $700 million to be considered a hit.”
How much Superman makes during its opening weekend remains to be seen. Jurassic World Rebirth opens the weekend before Superman does, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes just two weeks after, meaning it could face some tough competition at the box office throughout the whole month of July.
In addition to Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Luthor, Superman stars Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Terence Rosemarie as Otis, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer.
Superman will be released in United States theaters and IMAX on July 11, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures. The DCU continues after that in August with Peacemaker Season 2, while the next theatrically released movie will be Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which arrives in June 2026.
