Thunderbolts*’ Sentry Concept Art Reveals Dark Alternate Suit for Lewis Pullman
An artist who worked on the MCU on 2025’s Thunderbolts* has revealed early concept arts of a darker version of the suit of Lewis Pullman’s Sentry. Notably, the Sentry appears in a predominantly golden costume in the movie, which is in line with how the character has been depicted in Marvel Comics for the most part.

Visual artist Constantine Sekeris shared multiple “very early” concept explorations of the Sentry in Thunderbolts* in a series of social media posts. As part of Marvel Studios’ visual development team, headed by Andy Park, Sekeris developed a costume for the troubled superhero that seems to echo the character’s personality.
The traditional golden color is still present in this costume, but it is subdued. Darker lines and patches are more prominent in Sekeris’s version than in the movie version. The cape that Sekeris drew split over the chest, creating an inverted V-shape over the rest of the torso.
“John Staub nailed the final design for the film of Sentry and looked amazing on screen…..here is again another very early concept exploration of something a bit more grounded working in more of a dark material pallette and break up….also here I illustrated not flying to help with the overall tone…..we explore many many ideas from very simple to more elaborate to them a balance inbetween,” Serakis wrote in the caption of one of the posts.
Thunderbolts* introduces Robert “Bob” Reynolds / Sentry / Void to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it was important to get the character’s look right in the project. Writer Paul Jenkins and artist Jae Lee created the Sentry for Marvel Comics with reported contributions from Rick Veitch.
The character debuted in comics in the first issue of The Sentry in 2000 and has since become a prominent part of Marvel. Screenwriters Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo incorporated the Sentry into the script for Thunderbolts*.
