Dwayne Johnson Movie Ripped Gets Plot Details, Features Gym Cult Leader

Dwayne Johnson and his production company Seven Bucks are producing Ripped, a new movie that THR is reporting that Johnson could potentially have a role in.

What is Ripped about?

According to THR’s report, Ripped comes from a short story by Joe Ballarini, and will be adapted for the big screen. The movie follows the story of an insecure man who joins a “hard underground training facility” ahead of his wedding. The only problem? The gym is “led by a magnetic fitness guru, who commands cult like devotion with the promise of peak performance at any cost. ”

While it’s unclear whow ill be in the movie, THR noted that one of the roles does seem suited for Johnson. As of now, he is just in a producer role, with the project falling under Seven Bucks’ first look deal with Disney. That deal allows for Johnson’s company to collaborate on projects with other Disney companies, and is what led to the planned Martin Scorsese movie starring Johnson.

Ballarini will adapt the short story into a screenplay, and has also agreed to a deal with Simon & Shuster/Atria’s 12:01 Books to expand the story into a full-fledged novel. Currently, no other information about the film, including who will direct or star in the project, are available as of now.
