Fight or Flight’s Charithra Chandran Talks Wild Action, Praises Josh Hartnett

Fight or Flight star Charithra Chandran spoke to ComingSoon about the new action movie starring Josh Hartnett. The actress spoke about working with Hartnett, filming the wild fight scenes, and more. Vertical will release the film in theaters nationwide on May 9, 2025.

“Exiled American agent Lucas Reyes (Josh Hartnett) is given one last chance to redeem himself – the assignment is to track down and identify a mysterious, international high-value asset known only as The Ghost on a flight from Bangkok to San Francisco. Complicating matters, the plane is filled with assassins from around the world who are assigned to kill them both. The pair must work together in a fight for their lives. At 37,000 feet, the stakes have never been higher,” says the synopsis.

Tyler Treese: In Fight or Flight, you get quite a bit of action in this film, and you completely hold your own. What impressed you most about the unique choreography in the fight scenes? Because you’re really using the environment to your advantage.

Charithra Chandran: What I loved was, I think it felt really practical, and it felt really real because we were using our environment. I also think the confined space presented a challenge, but also an exciting challenge. So, we had to be a lot more specific and choreographed because it was such a tight and narrow space, but it made… I think the stunts feel higher stakes. So, I loved it and I think it turned out really well. I’m so pleased.

Josh Hartnett is just looking like he’s having a complete blast this entire movie. How was the energy on set when you were working with him?

Josh is, firstly, the nicest guy. He is such a sound dude, so protective of the cast, so sweet to us, such a family guy, like the best. The film really rests on his shoulders. There’s a lot of pressure. I think he filmed every single day, and he absolutely smashes it.

They say blondes have more fun. I think that kind of bled into him.

Josh would always be like, “Let’s make it crazier. Let’s do more, let’s go bigger.” I’m like, “Yeah. Yes.”

The end of the film teases another adventure. So I have to ask, would you be up to return for a sequel if that happens?

Charithra Chandran: Yes, I’d definitely be up for returning for a sequel. I think it depends on so many things, but who knows? Fingers crossed. Let’s manifest it together.

Fight or Flight was released already in the U.K. So, what’s been the highlight of the early reactions that have come out?

We made the film a couple of years ago, and we made it in Budapest and in isolation, essentially. You never know how people are gonna react to something, and for the reaction to be so positive and for people to really buy into the spirit of the film — we are not trying to make something that’s like Schindler’s List. We’re trying to make a really fun, entertaining, lighthearted film with heart. It felt like the audience really got what we were trying to do.

Thanks to Charithra Chandran for taking the time to talk about Fight or Flight. Tickets are now on sale.
