Avatar: Fire and Ash Gets First Official Image, Zoe Saldaña Talks James Cameron Movie

The first official image for Avatar: Fire and Ash has been released.

Avatar: Fire and Ash is James Cameron’s upcoming sequel to 2009’s Avatar and 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water. Releasing in theaters this December, the movie stars Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, and more.

While some concept art for Avatar: Fire and Ash has previously been released, Empire Magazine has shared the first official image for the forthcoming movie. View the image below:

What did Zoe Saldaña say about Avatar: Fire and Ash?

Saldaña shared that her character will be dealing with “absolute devastation” at the start of Avatar: Fire and Ash as Neytiri and Jake are still dealing with the death of their son, Neteyam.

“That pain is seamlessly followed up on,” she said. “And because it doesn’t really have anywhere to go, and doesn’t go away, rage can also come from it. [The Sullys] are going to be tested as a family…Not only would everything that’s happening compel her to question the bond she has with her husband, but also her bond with herself, her people, her land, and the way the Na’vi are. She’s going to question everything.”

Saldaña also said that her character will “meet her match” when meeting the leader of the Ash People clan, Varang, who is played by Oona Chaplin.

Cameron shared, “Zoe is incandescent in this film. “With Emilia Pérez, she’s finally getting recognised as the top-tier actor we’ve always known she is. But in [Fire And Ash], that goes way beyond what you’ve seen before.”

The cast of the movie also includes Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Giovanni Ribisi as Parker Selfridge, Kate Winslet as Ronal, Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman, Edie Falco as General Frances Ardmore, and more.

Avatar: Fire and Ash will be released in United States theaters on December 19, 2025.
