Mission: Impossible 8, Lilo & Stitch Box Office Could Set a Historic Milestone

Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning and Lilo & Stitch‘s live-action adaptation could combine to create one of the biggest Memorial Day weekend box offices ever, according to a new report.

What are Mission: Impossible 8 and Lilo & Stitch’s box office predictions?

According to a new report from Deadline, both movies are tracking to make a combined $200 million at the box office when they premiere later this month. Mission: Impossible is eyeing somewhere in the range of $80 million for its opening weekend, with Lilo & Stitch estimated to make $120 million during its holiday weekend release.

Despite the high total, the pair of movie’s would still have a lot of ground to clear if they wanted to capture the best Memorial Day weekend ever. That distinction goes to Fast & Furious 6 and Hangover 3, which earned a combined $314 million when the films premiered in 2013.

Tom Cruise, who will star in The Final Reckoning, is already a part of Memorial Day weekend box office history himself. His 2022 film Top Gun: Maverick had the best single film opening over Memorial Day weekend in history ($160 million).

Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning and Lilo & Stitch are set to release on May 23, 2025. The former will have its world premiere in two weeks, where it will debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on May 14.
