Road House 2 Finds Beloved Action Director for Jake Gyllenhaal Movie
Amazon MGM Studios has officially tapped a new director to take over its upcoming Road House 2 movie. It has also been confirmed that Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal will be returning to reprise his role as Dalton from the 2024 remake of Patrick Swayze’s 1989 action movie.
Who will be directing Road House 2?
The Gentlemen director Guy Ritchie has signed on to helm Road House 2, which will serve as his reunion project with Gyllenhaal. The British filmmaker previously directed Gyllenhaal in the 2023 action drama movie The Covenant, which received positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike. Ritchie will be succeeding the first installment’s director, Doug Liman, who’s return was unlikely after his publicly criticized Amazon MGM Studios over their decision to release the movie through streaming instead of giving it a wide theatrical release.
Ritchie is currently preparing for the upcoming debut of his newest action adventure movie, Fountain of Youth, which will be led by John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. He’s also working on two more directorial projects in the form of the thriller movie Wife and Dog with Rosamund Pike and the action drama In the Grey with Henry Cavill. Both films are currently in post-production.
The Road House remake was directed by Liman from a screenplay written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. It received a Tomatometer rating of 60% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 205 reviews. The first movie also starred UFC star Conor McGregor, The Suicide Squad breakout Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen (Game Night), Gbemisola Ikumelo (The Last Tree), Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), Hannah Love Lanier (A Black Lady Sketch Show), Travis Van Winkle (Accepted), B.K. Cannon (Switched at Birth), Arturo Castro (Broad City), Dominique Columbus (Ray Donovan), Beau Knapp (Southpaw), and Bob Menery.
