Austin Butler & Zoë Kravitz Get Steamy in First Caught Stealing Photos

Sony Pictures has unveiled the first look images from Caught Stealing, featuring Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz turning up the heat in Darren Aronofsky‘s upcoming crime thriller.

Aronofsky helms the movie from a screenplay written by Charlie Huston, who adapted it from his own novel of the same name. The story follows Hank Thompson (Butler), a burned-out former baseball player who suddenly finds himself fighting for survival in the criminal underworld of ‘90s New York.

In addition to highlighting Kravitz and Butler’s sensual chemistry, the first batch of photos also offer a glimpse at the film’s supporting cast, including Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny (Bullet Train) and a nearly unrecognizable Matt Smith (House of the Dragon, Doctor Who).

Kravitz plays Yvonne in Caught Stealing, while Bad Bunny and Smith play Colorado and Russ, respectively. Other stars featured in the film are Regina King (The Harder They Fall) as Roman, Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan) as Ed, Will Brill (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Jason, Griffin Dunne (An American Werewolf in London) as Paul, Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil: Born Again) as Paris, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Hell of a Summer) as Dale, George Abud (The Band’s Visit) as Duane, and more. 

The film adaptation of Caught Stealing was first planned back in 2013, with Patrick Wilson initially attached to play Hank Thompson — a role now taken on by Butler. The film marks Aronofsky’s return to the director’s chair following the award-winning Brendan Fraser-led The Whale in 2022. His past directorial credits include Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler, Black Swan, Noah, and Mother.

Caught Stealing is set to hit theaters on August 29.
