Who is in the Topakk trailer?

The video features acclaimed Filipino actors Arjo Atayde and Julia Montes as their characters, Miguel Vergara and Weng Diwata, go up against a vigilante death squad led by Sid Lucero’s Romero. Also part of the cast is Kokoy De Santos as Bogs Diwata. Prior to its digital release, the movie was initially screened at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, followed by its premiere at Switzerland’s 76th annual Locarno Film Festival.

Topakk is directed and produced by Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang filmmaker Richard Somes, who co-wrote the script with Will Fredo and Jimmy Francisco Flores. The movie is produced by Arjo Atayde’s mother, veteran Filipino actress Sylvia Sanchez, and sister Ria Atayde, who’s also a known actress in the Philippines.

“Topakk is a deeply personal journey—my confrontation with violence in all its brutal forms,” Somes said in a statement. “Topakk is a reflection on senseless death and aggression, a commentary on the cruelty born out of war and power. This work challenges us to face the fear, savagery, and oppression inflicted by those who claim authority.”

Sanchez added, “I am very proud of the work we did with Topakk. From Cannes to Locarno to Fantastic Fest, we were able to travel and showcase Filipino artistry in the form of our superb cast and visionary director. It has been such a great experience from pre-production to everything after and we are so excited to share this with everyone.”
