Now You See Me Live Stream Paid People $250,000 to Market Part 3 Trailer

Nine years after the premiere of Now You See Me 2, Lionsgate has finally revealed the trailer for the franchise’s third installment, doing so in grand fashion by giving away $250,000 to fans via Venmo transfers. Titled Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the movie will see the reunion of the four original Horsemen, including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, James Franco, and the returning Isla Fisher, along with the addition of a new set of illusionists.

To increase the hype for Now You See Me 3, Lionsgate conducted a live stream at New York’s Times Square, at the end of which, the production company premiered the trailer for the film while also giving away money to a particular set of fans.

How people got paid on Venmo through a Now You See Me live stream

On April 29, New York residents saw Now You See Me 3 take over a massive billboard in Times Square to market the debut of the movie’s trailer. Aside from flashing “NOW YOU SEE ME” on the screen, the advertisement also included a live countdown clock as well as a sign that read, “Text for magic: 315-669-8263.”

The curious onlookers who chose to interact with the phone number ended up receiving exactly $119.16 at the end of the countdown. Aside from the credited amount in their Venmo accounts, the said fans also got to lay eyes on the first trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. In total, the team behind the film dedicated $250,000 to unsuspecting fans as part of their marketing technique.

Can you still get paid on Venmo with Now You See Me’s live stream?

Now You See Me 3’s Venmo giveaway concluded as soon as the countdown during the live stream struck zero. As such, only fans who dropped a text to the number on the screen while the live stream was still on managed to take advantage of the offer. Users who tried to send a message to the number shown on the billboard after the countdown’s conclusion were met with disappointment as they did not receive any money.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is currently on track to hit theatres on November 14, 2025.
