The Accountant 3 Update: Director Teases Ben Affleck Romance, Release Date

Gavin O’Connor has shared an update about a potential The Accountant 3.

The Accountant was released in United States theaters in 2016. Directed by O’Connor, the movie stars Ben Affleck as Christian Wolff and Jon Bernthal as his estranged brother Braxton. A sequel, The Accountant 2, was just released in theaters this past weekend and has so far made around $24.5 million at the domestic box office.

What did Gavin O’Connor say about The Accountant 3?

While The Accountant 3 has not been officially confirmed at this time, O’Connor has stated on several occasions that he intends to make a trilogy.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, O’Connor said that they’re currently talking with Amazon MGM Studios about continuing the franchise and how there won’t be a nine-year wait this time around, as there was between The Accountant and The Accountant 2.

Additionally, he teased a possible romantic storyline for Affleck’s character in the third Accountant movie.

“We always intended it to be a trilogy, and so we’re having conversations,” O’Connor said. “Ben and I, our producer Lynette [Howell Taylor], and writer Bill [Dubuque], we’re all having conversations with Amazon about that very thing, so it will not be another nine years before we do our third one. Chris needs to find love. That’s what we set up with this character who’s in search of love and human connection. So I want to be able to give Christian that by the end of the third movie.”

Fans may have to wait a bit longer for more news about The Accountant 3; however, the first movie is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and Max. A streaming release date for The Accountant 2 has not yet been set.

The Accountant 2 also stars Cynthia Addai-Robinson as Marybeth Medina, Daniella Pineda as Anaïs, J. K. Simmons as Raymond King, and Allison Robertson as Justine.
