Chris Evans & Aubrey Plaza Comedy Movie Honey Don’t! Gets Release Date

Focus Features announced the release date of Honey Don’t!, the upcoming dark comedy starring Chris Evans and Aubrey Plaza.

Before it hits theaters, Honey Don’t! will have its world premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The Ethan Coen-directed film will be part of the Midnight Screenings Section.

When is the Honey Don’t! release date?

Honey Don’t! is set for a wide U.S. theatrical release on August 22.

The official logline reads, “Honey Don’t! is a dark comedy about Honey O’Donahue, a small-town private investigator, who delves into a series of strange deaths tied to a mysterious church.”

Margaret Qualley will star as Honey O’Donahue, while Plaza’s and Evans’ characters remain under wraps. Charlie Day and Billy Eichner will also have starring roles.

The Honey Don’t! ensemble includes Lera Abova, Jacnier, Gabby Beans, Talia Ryder, Kristen Connolly, Lena Hall, Don Swayze, Josh Pafchek, Kale Browne, Alexander Carstoiu, and Christian Antidormi.

Ethan Coen directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with his wife, Tricia Cooke. Coen and Cooke previously wrote Drive-Away Dolls, the 2024 crime comedy starring Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan. Honey Don’t! is Coen’s third directorial without his brother, Joel, behind Drive-Away Dolls and Jerry Lee Lewis: Trouble in Mind.

Hailing from Working Title, Honey Don’t!’s producers include Coen, Robert Graf, Tim Bevan, and Eric Fellner.

Evans is one of the upcoming stars of Materialists, alongside Dakota Johnson and Pedro Pascal. The Celine Song rom-com opens in theaters on June 13. In 2024, Evans appeared as Johnny Storm/Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine and Jack O’Malley in Red One.

Plaza’s recent credits include a memorable turn as Rio Vidal in Marvel’s Agatha All Along. Plaza played Older Elliot in the coming-of-age comedy My Old Ass and Wow Platinum in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis.
