The Invite Cast: Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, & More Join Olivia Wilde Comedy Movie
Actress-filmmaker Olivia Wilde has officially enlisted three A-list actors who will be joining The Invite cast for her next directorial feature. In addition to directing, Wilde is also starring in the upcoming provocative comedy movie, which has already started production in Los Angeles.
“The film follows a couple [who] invites the neighbors over, igniting an evening full of unexpected twists and turns, revealing deeply repressed emotions and unexplored sexuality,” reads the official synopsis.
Who is joining The Invite cast?
Golden Globe nominee Seth Rogen (Neighbors, Pam & Tommy), Oscar nominee Edward Norton (A Complete Unknown), and Oscar winner Penélope Cruz (Vicky Cristina Barcelona) have signed on to star opposite Wilde in the date night comedy The Invite. The project is inspired by the 2020 movie The People Upstairs, which was written and directed by Cesc Gay.
The Invite is written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack. This marks Wilde’s first directorial project in three year after working on the hit psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles. The upcoming movie is executive produced by Patrick Chu for Annapurna, with FilmNation Entertainment’s Ben Browning, Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison, and David Permut set as producers. Both Annapurna Pictures and FilmNation Entertainment handling the project’s finance.
Wilde most recently guest-starred in Rogen’s newest Apple TV+ comedy series The Studio. She’s currently attached to star in the upcoming erotic thriller I Want Your Sex with Cooper Hoffman, Charlie XCX, and Daveed Diggs. Besides The Invite, Wilde is also expected to helm the upcoming Christmas comedy movie Naughty, with Margot Robbie set to produce.
