“The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, and this time around, it’s toy meets tech,” the official synopsis reads. “Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and the rest of the gang’s jobs get exponentially harder when they go head to head with this all-new threat to playtime.”
Allen also recently told WIVB that “a lot” of Toy Story 5 will be about Jessie, the cowgirl toy who has been voiced by Joan Cusack since Toy Story 2. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign,” Allen also said. “And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”
The voice cast of Toy Story 5 additionally includes Anna Faris in an undisclosed role and Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl. Hudson takes over the role from Carl Weathers, who passed away in 2024.
Jessica Choi is producing the new Pixar sequel movie, while Pete Docter serves as an executive producer. Stanton previously co-directed 1998’s A Bug’s Life before he then went on to helm 2003’s Finding Nemo, 2008’s WALL-E, 2012’s John Carter, and 2016’s Finding Dory, while he’s also served various roles on a number of other Pixar titles.
Toy Story 5 will be released in United States theaters on June 19, 2026.
