Superman: Green Lantern’s Team Name Is a Surprising Spin on Justice League
A recent Superman movie merchandise listing has seemingly revealed the name of Guy Gardner’s superhero team as Justice Gang. The first feature film in James Gunn’s revamped DCU, Superman will follow the journey of David Corenswet’s Clark Kent as he attempts to find balance between his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing.
Aside from the Man of Steel, the movie also features a horde of other DC heroes, including Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, Mister Terrific, and Hawkgirl. While Gunn and his team have not revealed many details about the role of this superhero team, fans might have just received a hint regarding the name of the said collective.
Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern leads the ‘Justice Gang’ in Superman
Toy manufacturing company Mattel recently unveiled a new line of products dedicated to the forthcoming Superman flick. Amid the collection is a pack of figurines, featuring the last son of Krypton himself, along with Green Lantern, Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, Krypto, and the Kaiju, as per Superman Homepage.
The listing is titled “Superman Justice Gang Multipack,” which has led fans to believe that this could be the name of Guy Gardner’s superhero group in the much-awaited DC flick.
Scheduled to be available for purchase starting June 1, the description for the listing reads, “Collectors will appreciate this six-character set featuring heroes and villains from the upcoming film. The 3-inch scale figures include Superman, Guy Gardner, Mister Terrific, Hawkgirl, Krypto, and the Kaiju. Each superhero figure features iconic details and posable limbs designed for small hands (except for the Kaiju, whose limbs remain stationary).”
However, neither Gunn nor DC Studios has issued any official statement regarding the usage of the “Justice Gang” title in Superman. Many have suggested that this could be a spin on the “Justice League International” name, tweaked ever so slightly by Gunn to introduce the first big-screen superhero team-up in his updated DCU.
Moreover, the filmmaker might be saving the “Justice League” title for later, probably after the introduction of more top-tier heroes, such as Batman, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and more.
As such, the use of “Justice Gang” in the Superman movie to refer to Guy Gardner’s team remains mere speculation at the time of writing. Fans will not have to wait to get a definitive answer on this topic as Superman flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.
