Thunderbolts* Cast on How Bucky’s Coolest Stunt Was Shot So Hilariously
With Thunderbolts* gradually nearing its theatrical release date, its principal cast has come out to share an amusing behind-the-scenes tidbit surrounding a motorcycle stunt performed by Sebastian Stan’s Bucky. In one of the earliest promos released for the MCU project, fans witnessed the character chasing the titular team while battling with a convoy. While the action sequence’s intense choreography drew much attention upon the trailer’s premiere, it was, in fact, a stuntman who made the scene a reality.
David Harbour reveals how Bucky’s motorcycle stunt was filmed in Thunderbolts*
The film’s cast, barring Stan and a few others, recently sat down for an interview, where they were questioned about how they felt seeing the Winter Soldier in action. Florence Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova in Thunderbolts*, instantly referred to a motorcycle stunt featuring Bucky.
As the actress highlighted Wyatt Russell’s excitement upon witnessing Stan in the said scene, David Harbour chimed in to explain how they shot the scene. “In the motorcycle sequence in the desert, which you’ve seen a lot of in the trailers, it’s an incredible sequence. There’s a lot of crazy stunts done on a motorcycle by a stunt motorcycle driver,” he told Fandango’s Mark Ellis.
Harbour then detailed how a Thunderbolts* stuntman wearing Bucky’s hair on his helmet performed the now-famous stunt. “What you don’t see, because it has been CGI-ed away, is that the stunt motorcycle guy had a helmet with a Bucky wig on it. And you had this enormous wig of hair on a motorcycle helmet,” the Red Guardian actor noted while everyone else struggled to contain their laughter.
Russell jokingly added that it was like “Stewie from Family Guy riding a motorcycle.” Moreover, Harbour then quipped about the stuntman who breathed life into Bucky’s much-discussed stunt in Thunderbolts*. He stated, “So you go from the coolest guy in the world to the least guy doing the coolest motorcycle trick you’ve ever seen in your life.” Despite having made jokes about the process, Pugh made sure to credit the stuntman who made the scene possible by calling him “fantastic” and “the best motorcycle stunt driver in the world.”
Meanwhile, fans can catch Bucky enacting the said stunt when Thunderbolts* comes out on the big screens on May 2, 2025.
