The Love Hypothesis 2 Sets Release Date as Movie Dominates Streaming, But There’s a Catch
The Love Hypothesis has a major sequel announcement, but it starts with the book. Author Ali Hazelwood has announced a sequel to the original novel. The update comes shortly after the original novel’s film adaptation arrived on Prime Video.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Hazelwood announced that her upcoming book, The Two-Body Problem, will be released on February 2, 2027. It is the sequel to her bestselling novel, The Love Hypothesis, which was recently adapted into a film on Prime Video starring Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman.
“‘I wrote a sequel to The Love Hypothesis‘ is not a sentence I thought I’d say a year or so ago, but now I weirdly can’t imagine a world in which The Two-Body Problem doesn’t exist. I’m really eager to talk more about this book and how it came about in the next few months. For now let me just say that the TLH movie and its cast made me fall for Adam and Olive all over again, that revisiting them was an absolute pleasure,” Hazelwood shared.
The Instagram carousel includes the cover art for The Two-Body Problem, which will follow Olive and Adam as they navigate the highly demanding world of academia while maintaining their relationship.
The author added, “If you want to read more about Adam and Olive, The Two-Body Problem spans a couple of years, and it’s a mix of slice of life, postdoctoral turmoil, and unflinching exploration of the hardest challenge one will face in a long-term relationship: deciding what to have for dinner. If you pick it up, I really hope you enjoy.”
What is Prime Video’s The Love Hypothesis about?
The Love Hypothesis follows Olive Smith, a Stanford Ph.D. candidate, who enters a fake relationship with intimidating professor Adam Carlsen, dubbed “Dr. Evil” by his students. What begins as a fake relationship soon develops into genuine romantic feelings.
Besides Reinhart and Bateman, the movie stars Rachel Marsh, Jaboukie Young-White, Nicholas Duvernay, Arty Froushan, Jeananne Goossen, and more.
In the latest Instagram post, author Ali Hazelwood also confirmed, “MRC is developing a film based on The Two-Body Problem for Amazon MGM Studios.” So, Olive and Adam’s romance could also return to the screen.
