Avengers: Doomsday’s Alan Cumming Admits He Doesn’t Understand New MCU Movie’s Plot
Avengers: Doomsday actor Alan Cumming said that he is unsure about the upcoming MCU movie’s plot. The 61-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Nightcrawler in the December 18, 2026, release.
Speaking about his experience filming Avengers: Doomsday, Cumming told SiriusXM, “To be honest, I don’t fully understand the plot. There was a bit when we were shooting a scene, and it was one of the rare scenes when I was actually on the backlot and not in front of a blue screen.”
Cumming added, “And this man came and said, ‘So right now Alan, these giant robots are blah blah,’ and started to tell me the thing, and I was like, ‘You know what, thank you so much, but just tell me where I point my, whatever I point. And I’ll do that. Really, I just know I’m here to run around.'”
Currently, there is a lot of speculation and fan theories doing the rounds about the plot of the movie. In the upcoming film, fans will get to see the Earth’s mightiest heroes battle the big bad of MCU Phase 6, Doctor Doom.
What do we know about Avengers: Doomsday’s plot so far?
While the plot details and storyline for the MCU’s next big release are still kept under wraps, fans have been introduced to the big bad for the project, Victor Von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.
The overview for the Russo Brothers-directed superhero film, per Marvel, reads, “‘Avengers: Doomsday’ follows beloved heroes from three distinct universes as they’re set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”
Through the rerelease of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has dropped a few hints towards the upcoming film. The revised ending of the rerelease shows Tom Hiddleston’s Loki interrupting Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter’s as a TVA agent asking for assistance. One of the post-credits scenes in Avengers: Endgame Encore showed Bruce Banner in self-exile when Doctor Doom comes in to collect him.
Marvel has announced several cast members for Avengers: Doomsday. The announced cast card includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Channing Tatum, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, and more.
