M. Night Shyamalan Calls Bruce Willis His ‘Guardian Angel’ After Unbreakable & Glass Roles

Filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan has shared his heartfelt praise for long-time friend and collaborator Bruce Willis. The duo has worked together on three blockbuster films, including Unbreakable and Glass, and recently Shyamalan spoke about their connection.

Speaking with The Wrap, Shyamalan reflected on his deep personal bond with the retired actor. “Everyone needs a guardian angel, and he was mine. He’s very important to me – always been, will always be,” the 56-year-old said. “I was lucky that I got to make ‘Glass’ with him – in many ways, his last movie.”

The pair’s artistic journey began with 1999’s hit thriller The Sixth Sense before collaborating again through Unbreakable and Glass. Expressing gratitude for their shared history, Shyamalan added, “It was complicated, but it was so beautiful. I can’t say enough about him. When I was a kid, he was like a superhero to me. To have our two fates together so inextricably bound is so lovely.”

M. Night Shyamalan has a new movie coming out next year

The two-time Oscar nominee is returning with a new supernatural romantic thriller, titled Remain. The film is based on an original story by both Shyamalan and author Nicholas Sparks, who separately wrote a version of it in a 2025 novel.

“When reclusive architect Tate Gordon moves to small coastal town to complete his latest project, he encounters an alluring young woman who pulls him out of his shell and into the center of a deadly mystery that hangs over the town,” reads the official synopsis.

The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal in the title role alongside Phoebe Dynevor, Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, and Jay O. Sanders.

Shyamalan directs the film from a screenplay by himself, and also serves as producer alongside Ashwin Rajan, Theresa Park, and Marc Bienstock.

Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, the Jake Gyllenhaal-led film is set to release on February 5, 2027.
