Chris Pratt & Bob Odenkirk’s Underseen Comedy Movie Is Now Free to Watch
A comedy film set in the late 1980s, featuring early performances by Chris Pratt and Bob Odenkirk, is now available to stream for free on digital platforms. Released in 2011, the movie went largely unnoticed at the box office but has since become a time capsule featuring several actors who went on to become major Hollywood stars.
Directed by Michael Dowse (Goon), Take Me Home Tonight stars Topher Grace, Anna Faris, and Dan Fogler alongside Pratt and Odenkirk. Pratt plays Kyle, an arrogant, status-focused boyfriend, while Odenkirk appears as a quirky luxury-car dealership boss.
The cast also includes Teresa Palmer, Michael Biehn, Lucy Punch, Michelle Trachtenberg, and comedian Demetri Martin.
The movie also has a personal connection to Pratt. He met Faris while making the film, and the two later began a relationship. Faris portrayed Kyle’s girlfriend in the story.
What is Chris Pratt’s Take Me Home Tonight about?
Set during Labor Day weekend in the late 1980s, Take Me Home Tonight follows Matt Franklin (Grace), a smart MIT graduate who has rejected the corporate career his father expects him to pursue. Instead of taking a well-paid engineering job, Matt works at a video store while trying to figure out what he actually wants from his life.
His routine changes when Tori Frederking (Palmer), his former high school crush, visits the store. Matt sees an opportunity to impress her and lies about his career, claiming that he works as a successful investment banker.
The lie gets him invited to a large Labor Day party, where Matt hopes he can win Tori over. His best friend Barry (Fogler) joins him after losing his job, but the night quickly becomes much more chaotic when Barry steals a Mercedes convertible and discovers a stash of drugs.
At the same time, Matt’s twin sister Wendy (Faris) is dealing with her own problems. She is considering graduate school while preparing for a future with her boyfriend Kyle (Pratt), whose shallow and controlling behavior creates another source of tension.
As the night continues, Matt’s lies become harder to maintain. What begins as an attempt to impress an old crush turns into a series of parties, arguments, confessions, and bad decisions.
