Osgood Perkins’ The Young People Horror Movie Gets Intriguing Update From Star Heather Graham

Heather Graham has offered a new update on Osgood Perkins‘ The Young People. The actor praised Perkins’ filmmaking style and teased the film’s unusual script. She also revealed what stood out to her while working with the director.

In a recent interview with Tyler Treese of ComingSoon, Graham opened up about working with Perkins on The Young People. She called his visual style “pretty gorgeous” and said many of his shots “just look like paintings or beautiful photographs.” Graham also described the script as “really unusual.”

Graham also explained how she got the role. She initially credited Nick Simon, who directed What Happened to Doris?, for recommending her to Perkins. Simon then clarified that Perkins had specifically asked for Graham after seeing his trailer. “She’s going to do this part,” Perkins told Simon, who offered to contact Graham.

The actor also discussed her recent work in horror. Graham has appeared in Suitable Flesh and They Will Kill You. She said horror “tends to write for women sometimes more than some of the other genres.” She added that she appreciates the storytelling and has been lucky to work with “some really good people recently.”

Graham has not seen The Young People yet, but Simon has. He praised her performance during the interview, saying, “Heather is f—ing great in The Young People.” Simon also shared his reaction to the film, saying, “I loved it. I think it’s his best movie.”

Perkins wrote and directed The Young People, which stars Lola Tung and Nico Parker. Neon is co-financing the film alongside Lyrical Media and will distribute it theatrically.

The film’s story remains largely under wraps. In an interview with Variety, Tung has confirmed that it is a pure horror film rather than a horror-comedy like Perkins’ The Monkey. She called making the film a “crazy, weird, awesome experience.” Tung also admitted that she got scared on set a few times.

The Young People is expected to hit theaters in 2026. With the film’s story still under wraps, Graham’s comments provide a rare glimpse at Perkins’ latest horror project.
