Scarlett Johansson & Jacob Elordi’s New Ari Aster Movie Casts Huge Harry Potter Star

Ari Aster‘s new movie could add another major star to its cast alongside Scarlett Johansson. Jacob Elordi has also joined the cast recently.

According to Deadline, Jude Law is in talks to co-star in A24’s upcoming thriller Scapegoat. The movie will be directed by Ari Aster, who has also penned the screenplay. The film will mark Aster’s fifth feature with A24, following Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid, and Eddington.

Law is an Oscar-nominated actor who has starred in a slew of critically acclaimed movies throughout his decades-long career. His filmography includes Closer, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Sherlock Holmes, Captain Marvel, and many more.

He also played a young Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter prequel movies Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.

Law recently played Vladimir Putin in the 2025 political satire The Wizard of the Kremlin. His upcoming projects include the romantic comedy Paris Paramount starring Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, and Owen Wilson. The actor will also star in the upcoming Apple limited series Wild Things.

The official synopsis of Ari Aster’s Scapegoat remains under wraps. While some theories suggest that the movie is about a doctor who operates on an internet-famous person, others believe that it could be a sci-fi romance.

Scapegoat will be produced by Aster and Lars Knudsen for their Square Peg banner, which they co-founded in 2019.

Aster’s previous feature was the 2025 satirical neo-Western thriller Eddington, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal. The movie competed for the Palme d’Or at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
