What do we know about the Star Trek movie that’s currently in development?

Paramount is reportedly keen on developing a new Star Trek movie. There has been no official confirmation about the new project yet. However, in a July 2026 interview with Collider, filmmakers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley shared that they are working on a new feature film installment within the franchise.

“The script is in progress,” Daley said at the time. “We’re very excited about it. I think people will be surprised.” Goldstein added, “…It won’t be the characters that you’ve seen previously in your Star Trek movies. So there’ll be a new sort of take on that, and I think it’ll probably be a little further into the future than we’ve been before.”

The movie remains in development, with the script still in progress and no production or release date announced.
