Scarlett Johansson Could Win 2 Different Oscars This Year After 2020 Snub, Here’s How
Stars are aligning again for Scarlett Johansson to win two different Oscars following her 2020 snub. The Marvel star has strong chances with her upcoming movies in late 2026.
Scarlett Johansson is expected to be a front-runner for the Best Actress crown at the 2027 Academy Awards for her role in Paper Tiger. The crime thriller is set for a theatrical release in November.
However, it’s now confirmed that a song from her other new movie, Ray Gunn, will also be campaigning in the original song category at the Oscars, reports Variety. Netflix will submit the track Too Much To Ask, performed by Johansson, from the upcoming animated feature.
Scarlett Johansson was nominated for an Oscar one other time outside of Marriage Story
Scarlett Johansson has never won an Oscar, but she came very close to winning two at the same time. In 2020, she was nominated in the Best Actress category for her outstanding role as Nicole Barber in 2019’s Marriage Story, opposite Adam Driver.
The critically acclaimed romantic drama was helmed by Noah Baumbach. Its cast also featured Laura Dern, Ray Liotta, Alan Alda, and Azhy Robertson.
That year, Johansson was also nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for another 2019 movie, Jojo Rabbit. She played the role of Rosie Betzler in the comedy directed by Taika Waititi.
Unfortunately, she failed to win a single trophy. Renée Zellweger won the Best Actress award for Judy, while Laura Dern won the Best Supporting Actress title for Marriage Story.
As for her upcoming movie Ray Gunn, Scarlett Johansson will be seen voicing a multimedia star named Venus Nova. The main story will be set in Metropia and will present an alternate future from the year 1939.
The film is helmed by Brad Bird and its voice cast also features Sam Rockwell, John Ratzenberger, and Tom Waits, among others. Ray Gunn hits Netflix on December 18, 2026. Johansson’s other film, Paper Tiger, will release in theaters on November 13, 2026.
