Andrew Garfield and Rebecca Ferguson lead a magical adventure into a fantastical world
Directed by Ben Gregor, The Magic Faraway Tree is based on the beloved children’s author Enid Blyton’s book series, The Faraway Tree. The movie follows three young siblings, Beth, Fran, and Joe, who move to the countryside with their parents, where they discover a fantastical land full of magic and whimsy.
The Magic Faraway Tree stars Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy as the parents, Tim and Polly Thompson. The children are played by Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Phoenix Laroche, and Billie Gadsdon. Other major cast members include Nicola Coughlan, Rebecca Ferguson, Nonso Anozie, Jessica Gunning, Jennifer Saunders, Dustin Demri-Burns, Mark Heap, and many more.
The movie became the highest-grossing UK independent film in the first six months of 2026. Thanks to the positive reception, two sequels are on the way (via Screen Daily).
“When you grow up, you lose the idea of magic, and that’s a central tenet of film,” director Ben Gregor said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The filmmaker added, “In terms of the story, for me, I was always sure that we could do sequels because there’s so many stories, so many lands to go to. And there’s like three or four books.”
He concluded, “So there’s plenty in there. And looking at it again, I was like, you could do like five sequels, and there’s enough for Andrew and Claire to do. We’ve got lots of ideas about that, so it’s exciting.”
