Kit Harington’s Midnight Sons Movie Team-up With Blade Gets Clear Answer

Kit Harington just shut down one of Marvel’s most anticipated team-up rumors in a single word. The actor addressed whether Marvel ever discussed a Midnight Sons project during his recent Happy Sad Confused podcast appearance.

Kit Harington gives bad news on Midnight Sons idea

Kit Harington recently addressed the rumored Midnight Sons project during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The actor confirmed that Marvel Studios never formally communicated any Midnight Sons film plans involving his character. Host Josh Horowitz directly asked him about the team-up idea, and Harington shut it down clearly.

“No. No. No. Yeah. But there were all sorts of ideas that might but nothing solid ever kind of communicated. No,” Harington said. Fans previously linked the actor to the team-up project alongside Mahershala Ali’s Blade. However, Marvel never advanced either role beyond the initial setup phase.

Harington also reflected on how Marvel initially introduced his character, Dane Whitman, in Eternals. He revealed that Kevin Feige expressed interest in finding the right project for him early on. “They’ll throw a character in and then see if it goes anywhere, or see if they introduce him somewhere. And in the end it didn’t,” he explained. The post-credits scene in Eternals teased Whitman wielding the Ebony Blade alongside Ali’s Blade cameo.

Meanwhile, Ali himself has officially moved on from the Blade franchise entirely. The actor told Deadline at TIFF 2026 that he is done with the role after years of development setbacks. “I’m done. I’m doing this and anything moving forward. I’m over that. I’m done with that,” Ali stated. Marvel first announced Ali as Blade at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 before scrapping the film.

Despite the Midnight Sons project stalling, Harington still sees potential in the Black Knight character. He pitched the idea of exploring the Ebony Blade’s corrupting influence on Whitman. “I think there’s an interesting story of someone going from hero to villain right there,” Harington noted. Both actors’ departures now leave the Midnight Sons concept without its two most prominent rumored leads.
