Matthew McConaughey Gives Update on How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days 2 Sequel With Kate Hudson

Matthew McConaughey recently provided an update on How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days Part 2. The star attended the premiere of Apple TV’s new series Brothers, where he was asked about the 2003 sequel.

During the red carpet interview with Variety, McConaughey revealed that he recently met his co-star Kate Hudson. However, the Interstellar star also stated that the two had not discussed the sequel, adding, “I have not seen the scripts yet.” Furthermore, when asked if he wanted to do the sequel, McConaughey said, “If the script and story’s right, I’d like the idea.”

Paramount Pictures announced the sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, with hopes that McConaughey would reprise his role as Benjamin Barry. However, the actor has not officially signed the deal yet. Moreover, since he has not yet seen the scripts, the production of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days Part 2 still seems to be in the early development stage.

Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson’s reunion has more details fans will want to know

Unlike the True Detective actor, his co-star, Kate Hudson, is already attached to the sequel project. According to previous reports, Hudson is set to serve as the sequel’s producer alongside Stacey Sher. However, the plot details have not yet been developed because Paramount Pictures is still searching for a screenwriter.

Just like McConaughey, the studio wants Hudson to reprise her role as Andie Anderson in the movie. In the sequel, Andie and Benjamin would appear as older versions of themselves and have children. Besides these, no other cast or crew details have been provided.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days was originally helmed by Donald Petrie. The original plot follows a cat-and-mouse chase between Andie and Benjamin, where love eventually blossoms amid the absurd circumstances they create between themselves. The 2003 rom-com currently holds a 42% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite receiving a low score, the rom-com remains one of the iconic movies of the 2000s.
