Tom Cruise Brings Out Digger’s Popcorn Bucket Boot, Shares It With a Big Surprise

Tom Cruise turned his Tonight Show appearance into an unexpected popcorn party that left the audience scrambling. The actor surprised fans with Digger‘s boot-shaped collectible bucket and faced off against Jimmy Fallon in a wild stunt-filled challenge.

Tom Cruise shares popcorn with everyone at Tonight Show before his big surprise

Tom Cruise surprised The Tonight Show audience by bringing out Digger’s boot-shaped popcorn bucket filled with popcorn during his September 17 appearance. The Tonight Show shared the moment on X (formerly Twitter), captioning the clip, “@TomCruise brings out a bootful of popcorn to share with the audience!”

The boot bucket mirrors the footwear Cruise’s character Digger Rockwell wears in the upcoming film. Warner Bros. revealed the rust-colored container ahead of the movie’s October 2 release date. The collectible features black flame-like detailing running up the sides and the movie’s title on the front.

Warner Bros. has only said the bucket is “coming soon” without announcing a price or specific theater availability. Fallon later shared a surprise with the audience that they’re getting two tickets to watch Digger.

Cruise also participated in Fallon’s “Claw Machine Challenge” during the same episode. The human-sized arcade game featured Cruise-themed prizes, including plush characters from his earlier films. Prizes also included fighter jets, motorcycles, and Maggie the cat from Digger. A hidden golden shovel served as an instant-win item, nodding to the film’s title.

Digger comes from Oscar-winning writer and director Alejandro G. Iñarritu. Cruise stars as Digger Rockwell, a powerful man trying to convince the world he can fix a catastrophe he helped create. Warner Bros. describes the film as “a comedy of catastrophic proportions.” The movie also stars Riz Ahmed, Sandra Huller, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Jesse Plemons. Iñarritu directed from a screenplay he co-wrote, and the film was shot entirely in VistaVision.

The boot bucket joins a growing trend of elaborate movie-themed popcorn containers. Studios have released increasingly creative designs since the viral Dune: Part Two sandworm container in 2024. A second Digger collectible has also surfaced, featuring a traditional popcorn tin with a shovel-shaped scoop.
