Elf: Will Ferrell’s Christmas Classic Is Getting Another Movie This Year, But Not What Fans Wanted

Will Ferrell’s Elf is returning this year, but not in the sequel fans hoped for. The Christmas classic is returning with a new movie-related experience instead. The project will bring Buddy the Elf’s world back to life in a different way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Elf Experience is coming to Rockefeller Center in New York City on November 14, 2026. The attraction will take fans through immersive locations inspired by the movie. It will also feature interactive activities, exclusive merchandise, and holiday treats.

The experience marks a new way for fans to revisit the 2003 Christmas comedy. Ferrell starred as Buddy, a human raised by elves at the North Pole who travels to New York City after learning that his biological father lives there. The film became a major holiday favorite and continues to attract viewers more than 20 years after its release.

What fans can expect inside The Elf Experience at Rockefeller Center

The experience begins with guests meeting one of Santa’s helpers. They will then enter Papa Elf’s storybook before traveling to the North Pole to learn about the life of an elf.

The journey includes the Candy Cane Forest, the Sea of Swirly Twirly Gumdrops, and Santa’s Toy Workshop. Guests will then visit the North Pole before eventually reaching New York City and Gimbels.

Fans will also find interactive activities and photo opportunities throughout the experience. They can also browse a selection of Elf merchandise during the experience. The collection includes apparel, accessories, toys, and treats, along with artist collaborations inspired by the film.

Jon Favreau, filmmaker and founder of Fairview Portals, said the team brought together artists who worked on the original film alongside new artists inspired by it. The experience uses miniature work, forced perspective, zoetropes, and animatronics to create its handcrafted environments.

Tickets for The Elf Experience are now available online. Prices start at $45 for adults and $35 for children. The attraction opens to the public on Saturday, November 14, 2026.
