Guy Pearce Holds Someone Hostage in an Irish Pub in Intense New Thriller Movie Bottle

Guy Pearce is taking on a dangerous new role in Bottle, an upcoming thriller by Andrew Baird. Pearce plays Jimmy, a violent pub owner who traps a young man named Cillian inside his bar, who stopped in simply seeking a pint.

However, the situation quickly turns dangerous when Jimmy refuses to let Cillian leave. As the night continues, Cillian fights to survive and begins discovering more about the man holding him captive. He also starts to understand why Jimmy has chosen him.

According to Variety, Baird described Bottle as a crime thriller influenced by films from the 1970s. He specifically cited Peter Yates’ The Friends of Eddie Coyle and John Hillcoat’s The Proposition, which featured Pearce. Baird also said the film is “inherently Irish.”

The director explained that Bottle explores a dark and traumatic world based on the Ireland he knew while growing up. He added that he had not seen this particular side of Ireland captured on film before.

The production will film on location in Ireland. Roberto Forte and Eamonn O’Brien wrote the screenplay. Marco Gomez is serving as executive producer. Fabio Golombek and Shannon Alexander are producing for FJ Productions, with David Collins producing for Samson Films.

Before Bottle, Pearce and Baird have worked on several projects together. The pair first collaborated on Zone 414, the 2021 sci-fi thriller. Pearce starred as private investigator David Carmichael, who investigates a missing-person case in a futuristic city inhabited by humans and humanoid robots.

The two later reunited for Sunrise, a 2024 horror thriller. Pearce starred alongside Alex Pettyfer, Crystal Yu, and William Gao. The story follows a mysterious man who arrives in a small town and brings his violent past with him.

Pearce and Baird also collaborated on The Marshal, an upcoming conspiracy thriller. Pearce will play the role of Iraq War veteran Clay Mercer. The film is set to arrive in 2027.

Bottle marks their latest collaboration. The thriller gives the pair another dark genre story, this time set against the backdrop of Ireland.
