5 Best Johnny Knoxville Movies Ranked Ahead of Tiny Fugitives
Johnny Knoxville is known mainly for being one of the creators of the Jackass franchise, but the actor has starred or appeared in a number of movies outside of those.
Knoxville’s latest movie, Tiny Fugitives, is set to release on September 18. The movie is directed by Michael Lewen, and follows a group of 12-year-olds as they try and spend the rest of their lives at a sleep-away camp, while a 50-year-old counselor tries to stop them.
In honor of Tiny Fugitives releasing this week, we’re taking a look at Knoxville’s best movies throughout his career, ranging from everything from Jackass to more.

5) The Ringer
For all intents and purposes, The Ringer should not have been as good as it was. A movie starring Johnny Knoxville as someone who pretends to have a disability in order to compete in the Special Olympics, released in 2005, sounds like the perfect mix for an offensive movie laden with stereotypes.
However, what emerged from the movie was a relatively sweet and heartfelt film about friendship. The movie takes aim at Knoxville specifically, with all of the jokes aimed at his character. On top of that, the film treats the topic of disability surprisingly well for the time, and never punches down, but instead highlights the group with affection and respect. The movie also features more than 150 people with intellectual disabilities, something that Knoxville wanted to make sure to be the best representation possible.
4) Sweet Dreams
We don’t often get to see a softer, more emotional side of Knoxville in movies or in the press, but we did in 2024’s Sweet Dreams. The sports comedy drama follows a recovering alcoholic forming a softball team comprised of patients at a rehab center, with the goal being to win enough money to save the clinic from being sold.
While it’s nothing too special in terms of movies, it is a great film to showcase some of Knoxville’s acting chops. His role as Morris is surprisingly layered for what you’d expect from a Knoxville movie, and it’s funny to boot. The movie features a cast of great comedians, and all of them riff off each other well enough to make this well worth the watch.
3) Men in Black II
Calling Men in Black II a Johnny Knoxville movie may be a bit of a stretch, but the star does appear in one of the more memorable moments of the film. Knoxville plays the role of Scrad and Charlie, a humanoid alien that has a second, smaller head that protrudes out from his neck, and works for Serleena, the villain of the movie.
Knoxville’s role in the movie is definitely just for comedic purposes, but he does great in his role. The dual-Knoxville heads allow him to essentially riff off of himself, creating some hilarious moments throughout some of the more serious scenes in the movie.
2) Lords of Dogtown
Lords of Dogtown is another movie that is mainly without Knoxville, but we’re counting it just for the purposes of it being so good. He appears in the movie as Topper Burks, more of a cameo than anything, but still enough to warrant being here. Originally released in 2005, Lords of Dogtown follows the story of the rise of skateboard culture in 1970s Santa Monica and Venice, California.
Specifically, the film chronicles the lives of the Z-Boys, a young skateboarding group that helped revolutionize the sport, and how the group navigates the sudden fame that their success brings. The movie wasn’t a major hit when it first released, but has since gone on to have a bit of a cult following since its release. As far as skateboarding movies go, it’s up there with the best ever, and perfectly captures the culture and attitude behind it.
1) Jackass Number Two
Of course, there wouldn’t be anything else to top the list than a Jackass movie. While 2022’s Jackass Forever is equally deserving of this honor, 2006’s Jackass Number Two is the group of rowdy friends at their peak. The movie one-ups its predecessor in nearly every way, featuring some absolutely wild stunts that have gone on to define Knoxville’s career, including him flying into the air on a rocket.
The movie features Jackass’ iconic cringe-out and nasty bits as well, and even features a musical ending to boot. All in all, Jackass Number Two is the best representation of everyone in the group, and stands the test of time as one of Knoxville’s greatest movies.
