Man of Tomorrow’s David Corenswet Teases a ‘More Mature’ DCU Superman Movie
Corenswet’s upcoming NFL feature, the Superman star hinted at a highly sophisticated premise for the DC movie.
He also revealed how Man of Tomorrow would differ from its predecessor. When asked about the upcoming movie in the interview with Entertainment Tonight, Corenswet said, “The characters are a little more mature. They’re going to go a little bit deeper. Not to mention all the crazy stuff. Nick Hoult in the Warsuit!”
2025’s Superman marked a major tonal shift in the DC Universe, moving from its dark, gritty themes to an optimistic, heartfelt, compassionate, and bright tone. However, the actor’s comment suggests that the 2027 sequel would adopt a level-headed, mellow tone, showcasing the characters’ mature nature.

David Corenswet will reprise his role as Superman in Man of Tomorrow. The upcoming movie will also feature many returning cast members as well as new ones.
The ensemble includes Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Milly Alcock as Supergirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific. The new additions also include Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona, who are all set to play undisclosed characters.
Man of Tomorrow will be written and directed by James Gunn. Although the major plot details are kept under wraps, the movie will follow an uneasy alliance between Superman and his nemesis, Lex Luthor.
Together, they must set aside their differences and fight to stop a massive, catastrophic global threat, which is reportedly Brainiac. The movie is also said to feature appearances by other superheroes, including Supergirl, Green Lantern, and Blue Beetle.
The DC movie is slated for release in theaters on July 9, 2027.
