Chris Evans Makes a Politically Incorrect Move in Sacrifice Trailer, Anya Taylor-Joy & More Also Star
Chris Evans finds himself in a PR nightmare in Sacrifice‘s trailer as his in-universe character, Mike Tyler. The film has a star-studded cast, with the likes of Salma Hayek and Anya Taylor-Joy playing key roles.
In the trailer, Mike Tyler gets worked up after pulling up to a climate charity gala in a gasoline-powered car. He only realizes this when he is almost at the gala. What follows is an extravagant display of wealth that Tyler finds himself stuck in. Then, everything changes when Anya Taylor-Joy and her group of rebels storm the gala and take three hostages.

What do we see in the Sacrifice trailer?
The trailer opens with Mike Tyler making his way to a gala hosted by a billionaire, played by Vincent Cassel, and his wife, played by Salma Hayek Pinault. Evans’ Tyler tries to connect with the people at the gala, but is largely ignored except when people want to take selfies with him.
In the midst of a dance routine, Joan, a member of a rebel group, storms the gala and takes three hostages, including Tyler. Her objective is to sacrifice them in a nearby volcano to prevent the end times. The trailer then presents a montage that shows how the film delves into themes of identity and belief.
Sacrifice stars Chris Evans, Anya Taylor-Joy, Vincent Cassel, Sam Richardson, John Malkovich, and Salma Hayek, among others. The film is directed by Romain Gavras, marking his English-language debut. He co-wrote the film with Will Arbery.
According to the film’s press release, it “takes aim at celebrity culture, media spectacle, performative activism, and elite hypocrisy while exploring larger questions of faith, conviction, redemption, and the search for meaning in a world built on appearances.”
The film is set to be released on Netflix on October 16, 2026. The film originally premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025.
