Wildwood Final Trailer Comes With Major Announcement for New Awkwafina & Charlie Day Movie

The final trailer has dropped for the upcoming Charlie Day and Awkwafina movie, Wildwood. Directed by Travis Knight, the trailer has unveiled major details about the upcoming project.

According to the update, fans can now buy tickets for the new stop-motion fantasy. The movie will be hitting the theaters on October 23, 2026. The trailer has given the fans an exclusive look into Prue McKeel’s adventure in the Wildwood. Trying to bring her brother back home safely, Prue can be seen coming face-to-face with some escalating stakes on her quest.

The update also points out that the feature will be made available in various premium formats where available. These include Dolby Cinema, D-BOX, and 4DX. Before coming to the theaters, Wildwood is scheduled to premiere as the Opening Night selection at the 40th AFI FEST on October 21, 2026.

Inside Wildwood’s enchanted world and the star-studded voice cast

The fantasy film is based on the popular book by Colin Meloy, with illustrations by Carson Ellis. The project was taken up by LAIKA, the studio well-known for its stop-motion films. The filmmakers have physically built the characters, set, creatures, and other details.

The synopsis of Wildwood reads, “After her baby brother is abducted by a murder of crows, headstrong teenager Prue McKeel (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) launches a desperate rescue mission into the Impassable Wilderness — an enchanted forest hidden just beyond Portland, Oregon.”

The outline further continues, “Joined by her hapless but loyal classmate Curtis Mehlberg (Jacob Tremblay), Prue navigates a world of talking animals, bandits, and powerful figures driven by grief and ambition. As the pair is drawn into a conflict threatening the balance of the forest itself, Prue must find a way to save her brother while confronting forces that could determine Wildwood’s future.”

Prue McKeel’s character is portrayed by Peyton Elizabeth Lee, and Jacob Tremblay plays Curtis Mehlberg in the 132-minute adventure fantasy. The voice cast of Wildwood further features Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Angela Bassett, Awkwafina, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits, and Richard E. Grant.
