Zach Braff Is a Cop Trying to Rid His Neighborhood of Drugs in Intense Clean Hands Trailer

A new trailer for Clean Hands features Zach Braff as a narcotics cop. The crime drama is based on a true story. It also stars Esther McGregor, an up-and-coming actress in Hollywood. The movie will be released in selected theaters and on-demand platforms on October 16, 2026.

The official synopsis reads, “Based on an unbelievable true story, Sergeant Kevin Simmers leads a task force waging war on drugs in Hagerstown, Maryland, a major stop on the ‘Heroin Highway.’ At home, he’s a desperate father grappling with his 19-year-old daughter Brooke’s escalating addiction from pain meds to heroin. As Kevin is forced to confront the failures of the system he dedicated his life to defending, he and his daughter fight for recovery, redemption, and hope.”

What happens in Clean Hands trailer?

The trailer opens up with the introduction of Hagerstown, Maryland, where one can get drugs in “60 seconds flat.” It then cuts to introduce Brooke and her playful relationship with her cop father, Kevin Simmers. Things take a turn when the father comes across his daughter holding a bag of drugs in a raid.

Brooke is now locked up in a prison cell. Simmers assures her by saying, “You fight in here; stay sober. I’ll fight out there. By the time you get out, Hagerstown is gonna be clean.” The trailer shifts between scenes of Simmers chasing and arresting drug dealers in town and reflections on the emotional bond between the father and daughter.

Clean Hands had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7, 2026. The true-story adaptation is created in partnership with Brooke’s House, a non-profit, all-women recovery home that the real Simmers founded in 2018 and currently runs in Hagerstown.

Moreover, an on-set work program was created during production to help women in recovery learn film jobs. In addition, graduates of the recovery house were cast in the movie to authentically portray the world of addiction. According to the official press release, 1/3 of the movie’s profits will be dedicated to Brooke’s House.

The upcoming drama also stars Abigail Spencer, Holt McCallany, and Lucas Till. Allyn, Conor Allyn, Brian Loschiavo, James Suttles, and Jason Winn served as producers of the movie. Executive producers include Braff, Jim Gladden, Tony Herbert, Kevin Simmers, Dana Simmers, Daniel Weaver, Jonathan Beaulieu, William Deasey, Scott Davis, and Linda Davis.
