Fall 2: Deadpoint Screening Made Moviegoers Watch the Entire Movie in the Air
Fall 2: Deadpoint just gave a few lucky fans an experience unlike any other. Select moviegoers who were looking forward to Lionsgate’s sequel got a unique, immersive preview on August 22.
Instead of showing the film in standard theatres, Lionsgate held two screenings in Los Angeles that brought the film’s central premise to life. Viewers were challenged to a test of endurance and balance as they watched the film standing on elevated platforms, with a harness attached to each audience member as a safety measure.
The first film followed Grace Caroline Currey‘s Becky Connor and Virginia Gardner’s Shiloh Hunter as they tried to survive being stuck on an abandoned building, 2000 feet in the air, scheduled for demolition.
Fall 2 takes the survival thriller to another dangerous height
Fall 2, much like its predecessor, capitalizes on a fear of heights, this time in Thailand. The film stars Harriet Slater, Arsema Thomas, and Tom Brittney.
The sequel follows a completely different set of characters. Slater plays Jax Hunter, the older sister of Gardner’s Shiloh Hunter, who died during the events of the first film. Thomas plays Luce, Shiloh’s friend who accompanies Jax on her trip. The two find themselves stranded 3000 feet in the air on a plank walk on Mount Kwan, where they had traveled to honor Shiloh’s memory.
The Spierig Brothers of Predestination and Jigsaw fame have been credited as directors on the film. Scott Mann, who directed the first entry in the franchise, helmed the writer’s seat, along with Jonathan Frank. As of 2023, Fall 3 has also been greenlit by Capstone Studios and is expected to bring back characters from the previous two installments. The British film director will also return to direct in addition to writing the third entry. The 46-year-old director’s first outing with the franchise starter was a runaway hit, which brought in $20 million at the box office, against its $3 million budget.
