How The Magic Faraway Tree brings the beloved story to life
The Magic Faraway Tree brings Enid Blyton’s magical world to life in a reimagined version for a modern audience. It follows Tim and Polly Thompson and their three children after the family is forced to move to the remote English countryside.
Their children soon find a magical tree hidden near their home, which opens gateways to ever-changing fantastical realms at its top. The tree is also home to eccentric characters such as Moonface, Silky, Dame Washalot, and Saucepan Man.
The film stars Andrew Garfield as Tim Thompson alongside Claire Foy as Polly Thompson. They are joined by Nonso Anozie, Nicola Coughlan, Jessica Gunning, Jennifer Saunders, and Rebecca Ferguson.
Ben Gregor directed the film from a screenplay by Simon Farnaby, known for Wonka and Paddington 2. Following the movie’s success, Farnaby is returning to pen the next instalments. With a runtime of 1 hour and 50 minutes, the movie had a solid international theatrical run. It grossed more than $30 million, according to The Numbers.
The Magical Faraway Tree is now playing in theaters, distributed by Vertical Entertainment.
