Anne Hathaway Wants Movies Rated R If They Cross This Controversial Line

Anne Hathaway is sharing her thoughts on which movies deserve to be rated R. In a recent interview, the actress argued that any film that features the death of a dog should receive an R rating.

“I feel like movies that kill dogs should automatically be rated R,” Hathaway told Complex Pop. “It doesn’t matter if anybody curses. It doesn’t matter if there’s violence. If a dog dies: R-rated.” The actress’s The End of Oak Street co-star Ewan McGregor agreed with her stance, adding, “That’s it.”

Hathaway also revealed that a fan once asked her to confirm if the dog in The End of Oak Street makes it out alive. The actress assured, “It’s like we break the rules in his movie; that might not be one of them. Don’t worry.”

The Oscar-winning star also referenced the John Wick franchise that featured one of the most harrowing scenes of a dog’s death. “I think everybody’s so traumatized by John Wick,” she said. “Because I’ve been seeing those too, like, ‘They better not kill the dog.'”

Hathaway added, “I’m like, which movies are out there killing dogs? That everybody’s so scared that we’re just casually doing it in movies now.”
