Hilarious Will Forte Comedy Movie Could Still Get Sequel On One Condition

A classic Will Forte comedy movie from nearly two decades ago may get a sequel, but only on one condition. Directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, the film also featured Kevin Heffernan and Eric Christian Olsen, among others.

Speaking with The Direct while promoting Super Troopers 3, Chandrasekhar indicated that there’s a chance his 2006 comedy Beerfest could get a sequel. He simply said, “We might.” However, he has one single condition for that to happen. “It really depends on if people actually go to the theater for this one [Super Troopers 3]. If they do, then I think we might,” Chandrasekhar added.

Simply put, Chandrasekhar said a strong box office performance for Super Troopers 3 could help pave the way for Beerfest 2. The Searchlight Pictures film is set to hit theaters this Friday.

Who did Will Forte play in the original Beerfest movie?

Beerfest was initially released in 2006 by Warner Bros. Forte played Otto, a Wolfgang’s grandson. The film follows two American brothers who discover a secret, centuries-old beer-drinking competition during their visit to Germany’s Oktoberfest. After losing their early battle, the brothers go back to America, assemble a team of beer enthusiasts, and then return to Germany for a rematch.

Other key cast members included Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske, Steve Lemme, Ralf Möller, and more.

Beerfest received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics upon release. Currently, it holds a Tomatometer score of just 41% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, audiences responded more positively, as reflected by its 75% Popcornmeter score.

Made on a budget of $17.5 million, Beerfest failed to make much of an impact at the box office. It grossed just over $20 million worldwide during its theatrical run.
