Samara Weaving‘s reported casting as Emma Frost isn’t winning over all X-Men fans. The Ready or Not star has been making rounds on the internet for quite some time regarding her involvement in the anticipated film.
Deadline reported earlier today that Samara Weaving is the choice to play iconic X-Men character Emma Frost in Jake Schreier‘s upcoming movie. The report further claimed that both Schreier and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige locked in on Weaving after auditioning other candidates.
Following the massive announcement, fans have expressed their honest take on the Australian actress and model as Emma Frost.
How X-Men fans are weighing in on Samara Weaving’s reported casting
Samara Weaving is best known for her popular role of Indi Walker in the show Home and Away. Lately, she has earned accolades for the Ready or Not movie franchise, for playing Grace MacCaullay.
However, it seems not all Marvel fans are happy with Weaving being cast for the X-Men reboot.
One fan, @SanielDoto, pointed out that instead of Weaving playing Emma Frost, “Hannah Waddingham would’ve been better, but this is still good”
Another fan, named @zykkkken, echoed a similar sentiment but also wished for the actress to maintain distance from Marvel. They wrote, “on one hand this is an amazing casting on the other hand KEEP HER AWAY FROM MARVEL”
One Marvel fan, @hari_kun, expressed heavy disappointment over Weaving’s casting and wrote, “They’re really just throwing whoever is available into these roles at this point. No vision.”
Meanwhile, one fan, named @FireflyInTokyo, couldn’t believe that Marvel chose Samara over Margot Robbie, and wrote, “They couldn’t afford Margot”
This is largely because The Wuthering Heights star was previously rumored for a major role in the X-Men reboot. However, there has been no official update on Robbie’s involvement in the project so far.
Interestingly, some fans are hopeful for Weaving to join the MCU as Emma Frost. One fan, @gm786512py, expressed their happiness and wrote, “The White Queen has officially arrived! Samara Weaving is going to absolutely crush this role”
Another user, @RefApex, came up with an identical reaction while showing trust in Weaving for playing the X-Men character. They wrote, “Emma Frost is one of Marvel’s most iconic mutants. If Samara Weaving nails the attitude, fans will forget every fancast overnight.”
Despite the latest report, Marvel has yet to officially announce details on the actress joining the MCU for the X-Men reboot movie.
