‘Hulk From Temu’: Fans React to Jason Momoa’s Fight Scene in Street Fighter Movie
Fans have drawn Hulk parallels while taking a jab at Jason Momoa’s fight scene from the new Street Fighter movie. The former Aquaman actor’s first look from the video game adaptation, based on Capcom’s iconic franchise, was unveiled on Thursday.
Why are fans comparing Jason Momoa to the Hulk in Street Fighter?
Street Fighter movie recently shared a brief video clip featuring a fight scene between Andrew Koji’s Ryu and Jason Momoa’s character of Blanka. The clip provided an exclusive first look at Momoa’s appearance in the live-action version of Blanka from video games.
However, some fans couldn’t help but compare his on-screen appearance as Blanka to that of Hulk from the Marvel universe. It’s because both the characters are green and have got an oversized, muscular physique.
Speaking of the comparisons, however, they have been mostly for negative reasons. It seems many fans are not liking Momoa in the role at all, while some of them have taken funny digs at him. One fan, named @sunrsboulevard, mocked Momoa’s Blanka and wrote, “this is the Hulk from Temu.”
Another user, @ZenedinlikeZizo, echoed similar sentiments, saying, “Never thought I’d see the day Aquaman became an actor and played The Hulk.”
One more fan, @FarahanmiAA, indirectly drew parallels with Hulk and wrote, “My favourite aesthetic is Jason Momoa playing strange angry men.”
Then, there were fans who simply didn’t like Momoa’s decision to play Blanka. Mocking the actor, one user, @lovelyMirachi65, wrote, “Aquaman went from controlling the ocean to throwing electric hairballs.”
Another fan, @zerosauceman, took hilarious shots at the Momoa, saying, “The king of slop right there; he will literally do any movie whatsoever that you put in front of him.”
One fan, @SanzoFilm, remained cautious but slightly hopeful for Momoa’s character in the movie. They wrote, “Momoa actually feels like a fun choice for Blanka. It’s not just about looking the part; he has that wild energy that could make the character work without turning him into a joke.”
The upcoming Street Fighter movie also features Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, Eric André as Don Sauvage, and more.
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the Street Fighter movie hits theaters on October 16, 2026.
