Olivia Colman Gets Intimate With Bizarre Alexander Skarsgård Monster in Wicker Trailer
The Wicker trailer has dropped here. It gives a first glimpse at the unusual dark comedy starring Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgard, and Peter Dinklage. Earlier this year, the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
Directed by Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer, Wicker is based on Ursula Wills-Jones’ short story The Wicker Husband. The plot revolves around a lonely fisherwoman who finds love in the most unexpected way.
What happens in the Wicker trailer?
In the 2-minute and 24-second video, Colman is introduced as a fisherwoman who is ridiculed by the other people in the community for being unmarried. She asks a local basketmaker, played by Peter Dinklage, to weave her the perfect husband.
The basket maker brings his wickerwork to life as the living Wicker Husband, played by Alexander Skarsgard. They end up falling in love, much to the envy and wonderment of the villagers. One such villager who is shocked by this turn of events is the Tailor’s Wife, Elizabeth Debicki.
The trailer also shows Colman getting intimate with her crafted husband.

As per Entertainment Weekly, Skarsgard’s Wicker Husband was created through practical effects. The actor wore a specially made suit created by Weta instead of using excessive CGI. The suit also required the filmmakers to rehearse the intimacy scenes beforehand.
Colman explained that her main attraction to the film was the fact that her character refuses to fit in. “She is the only one not toeing the line,” the actress stated in the interview. The actress also appreciated the screenplay and Skarsgård’s acting that helped realize the peculiar romance.
The film has cinematography by Lol Crawley and production design by Renato Cseh. Andras Daniel Toth and Attila Godena-Juhasz designed the costumes, while Anna Meredith has composed the music.
Distributed by Black Bear Pictures, Wicker is set to hit theaters on October 23, 2026.
